Gil Eannes
The "Associação de Radioamadores do Alto Minho" is one of the few active clubs in the world
that has its headquarters on-board of a Museum Ship.
The Gil Eannes Museum Ship is a fragment of History that transports us through the northern
seas, to meet the Portuguese "Frota Bacalhoeira" (Codfish fleet) where, during decades it gave
medical and logistic support to many Portuguese and foreign ships.
In our headquarters, you may find our Ham Radio Station with the callsign CS5ARAM. This station
can be operated either by any member of the Association or any visiting radio operator (licensed).
Paying a visit to the Gil Eannes Hospital Ship and operating the CS5ARAM radio station is surely
an unique moment in one radioamateur's life.
This headquarter allocation is only possible thanks to the
Fundação Gil Eannes (Gil Eannes
Foundation), to whom we are grateful.
